Our Materials

Our goal at ALPAKA is to make functional everyday products that last and are kind to the planet. We rely on recycled and upcycled materials and work with suppliers who care about sustainability as much as we do. With ALPAKA there is no trade-off between premium quality and responsible manufacturing; you receive both.

Ultradyne™

A proprietary woven fabric designed for serious toughness at a fraction of the usual weight. Its water resistance is permanent because it is built into the fibers themselves, with no chemical treatments. It offers excellent resistance to tearing and abrasion and is PFAS-free.

Axogrid

A custom-developed four-layer laminate that is both rugged and eco-minded. It starts from a base of our fully recycled Axoflux fabric, which has a protective backing. A reinforcing grid adds resistance to tearing, and the finish is an environmentally friendly C0 waterproof membrane. It contains no PFAS.

Axodyne

Axodyne, another of our in-house creations, pairs an extremely strong molecular mesh with a waterproof layer fused on by heat. This distinctive laminate gives outstanding tear resistance and lasting waterproofing while staying remarkably light, and contains no PFAS. It is made to perform in the harshest conditions.

X-Pac®

Fabrics inspired by advanced sailcloth technology: light, strong, fully waterproof and fully climate-neutral. The range includes:

VX21: a 210D laminate with a satin finish and a recycled taffeta backing, durable with little stretch.
VX25: a 250D polyester face fabric, UV-resistant and dyed in high-visibility colors to make packs easier to see and safer.
VX42: a 4-layer laminate with a 420D face and a satin finish, with exceptional strength and durability.
X42: a flexible 420D face fabric backed with a glossy polyester film.
X50: a rugged, matte 500D Cordura® face fabric with high resistance to abrasion and tearing.
RX30: a matte 300D face fabric with the best-balanced construction for all-round performance.
RVX20: a 4-layer 200D laminate with strong color fastness.
RX36: the toughest fabric in the RX series, made of 100% post-consumer recycled polyester with a matte finish.
VX07-Ripstop: a mid-weight 70D ripstop face that blends light weight, durability and high tear resistance.
X21: a flexible 210D laminate with a glossy polyester film backing and X-PLY® reinforcement.
UX10: an ultralight laminate using an Ultra-PE weave and X-PLY® reinforcement, delivering strong performance at only 85g/m².
UVX40: a 400D blend of Ultra-PE and polyester that is waterproof and made to resist tearing and abrasion where it counts most.

Axoflux

Our own self-produced fabric, made from 100% recycled material. It is weatherproof, very durable and PFAS-free.

600D: sturdy polyester with a subtle sheen and a waterproof finish.
400D: high-performance recycled nylon offering exceptional durability at a low weight.
300D: adaptable polyester with extra tear strength and durability, excellent water resistance and a well-balanced weight-to-strength ratio.
210D: light nylon with dependable abrasion resistance and a waterproof coating, ideal for everyday carry items.

ECOPAK™

A long-lasting fabric that soaks up 80% less moisture than conventional laminated nylon and holds up better against UV light and color fading.

EPX400: 400D polyester made entirely from recycled content, highly resistant to abrasion.
EPLX450: fully recycled polyester fiber woven with a ripstop grid spaced 3 mm (1/8") apart, for a more technical look and extra durability.
EPLX600: 100% recycled polyester with a waterproof, matte 0.5-mil RUV™ film. It creases less and blocks 97% of UV.
EPLX200: a lightweight, 100% recycled polyester with a waterproof, matte 0.5-mil RUV™ film. It creases less and blocks 97% of UV.

Recycled Linings

Linings that resist wear and tearing, weigh little and are waterproof.

Honeycomb Ripstop: light but strong, with a distinctive honeycomb weave that stops sharp objects from ripping the inside of your bag.
X-Grid Ripstop: a second lightweight lining option, woven in an X pattern for extra durability.
